I have a bad habit of starting more than one book at a time and have a hard time choosing which one to read first, which one to stick one and which one to just call it and accept a DNF (did not finish). I am currently reading 4 books and am in the beginning stages of all 3, maybe you guys can help me choose which one to focus my reading energy on!
Book 1 – Sky Key (book 2 of the Endgame series) by James Frey
The Endgame trilogy continues in the sequel to the New York Times bestseller Endgame: The Calling. Endgame is here. Earth Key has been found. Two keys—and nine Players—remain. The hunt for Sky Key has begun.
After reading the first chapter of Endgame I was hooked, I finished the book in a few days and had to wait a whole year before Sky Key came out…however, 8 chapters in and I’m not feeling the same excitement as before, maybe its because the story seems more familiar now so less exciting and new!
Book 2 – Court of Thrones & Roses by Sarah J. Maas
When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin–one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.
As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she’s been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow over the faerie lands is growing, and Feyre must find a way to stop it . . . or doom Tamlin–and his world–forever.
I love Love LOVE Sarah J. Maas and was so excited for this book, expecting something similar to the Throne of Glass series, however I’ve found myself a bit bored in the first 10 or so chapters. I think the first few chapters up until she is taken by Tamlin are exciting, and then it just gets…blah. I haven’t picked this one up in a while, hoping it gets better but any personal reviews would be lovely!
Book 3 – The Shannara Chronicles book 2- The Elfstone of Shannara by Terry Brooks
Thousands of years after the destruction of the age of man and science, new races and magic now rule the world, but an imminent danger threatens. A horde of evil Demons is beginning to escape and bring death upon the land. Only Wil Ohmsford, the last of the Shannara bloodline, has the power to guard the Elven Princess Amberle on a perilous quest to the save the world, while the leader of the Demon force aims to stop their mission at any cost.
OK I must be honest, I’ve done a major book no-no…I’m reading the books out of order. This is book 2 of the series but is a new TV series on MTV specifically from this book (with references to book 1) and I got curious based off the trailer. So far I’ve gotten by not having read the first one. This is the book I’ve primarily been reading, big find it a little bit of a hard read in the sense that if theirs distractions around I’ll probably end up reading the same paragraph more than once, but very interesting (again it’d probably be easier if I had read book one first).
Book 4 – Winter by Marissa Meyers (book 4 of the Lunar Chronicles)
Winter despises her stepmother, and knows Levana won’t approve of her feelings for her childhood friend–the handsome palace guard, Jacin. But Winter isn’t as weak as Levana believes her to be and she’s been undermining her stepmother’s wishes for years. Together with the cyborg mechanic, Cinder, and her allies, Winter might even have the power to launch a revolution and win a war that’s been raging for far too long.
OK so I’m adding this book because I have had it since it came out (I pre-ordered it like a year ago) buuuut I haven’t read one word yet! I know *hand slapped* but as you can see, I’ve had a few others on the go and wanted to give it my full attention! I am sure I’ll love it as I’ve read the others and really liked them, just need a little push!
OK that’s it, 4 books to read/on the go…what do you recommend I stick with, start first or give up on??
Once I’ve read them I’ll be sure to review each of them!
Until next time…
